4NCL Online Round 5 – Wessex Results and Game

4ncl competition

Results

It was a return to normal service with a good set of results for the Wessex teams last night as they won six matches and lost only two.   With just two more rounds to go there is a lot to play for.

The A team won again against strong opposition.  It is now not only looking safe from relegation but is near the top of the table,  so has a shot at winning its group and going into the play-offs for the title!  Congratulations to David Pye for winning his game against an IM.

The B team won 4-0!  They are second in their group so have an excellent chance of promotion to division 1.

The C team won and are third in their group, so are still in with a shout.   Allan Pleasants’ game featured a stylish finish and can be found at the end of this report.   Allan is now on 4.5/5 for the season.

The D team were heavily outgraded and lost despite benefitting from a default.  They are second from bottom of their division 4 group so need some more points from their last two matches.

The E team, headed by the fast improving Adam Ursell, won.  They remain second from bottom of their group but have given themselves a chance of avoiding relegation.

Despite Jamie Doyle winning again to give himself an impressive 5/5, the F team went down to one of the Division 7 leaders, and are now in 20th position.  With 8 promotion places up for grabs they are not out of the running but will realistically require two good wins in the last rounds to stand much chance.

The G team won its first match of this season (it was only a question of time!) and so lifted itself up the table.  And the H team also won in only its second match.  Congratulations to both teams!
