Wessex
Annie Adaway has sent the following report on the Wessex’s teams’ eventful weekend.
It was a mixed weekend with a win and a loss for both teams.
The A team won its first match but suffered their first defeat by the narrowest of margins (2½ – 3½), albeit against the team currently leading the division, so not too bad.
A strong performance over the final three round weekend should hopefully earn the promotion we deserve!
The B team were involved in one of the dreaded triangular arrangements with board order problems caused by a team withdrawal and an opposition team defaulting on two boards. Despite the challenges we managed to win that one.
However, in the next round, when the smoke cleared, we surprisingly found that we had lost a match against a team that we outgraded on five boards out of six!
Poole
Poole’s weekend was more straightforward with comfortable wins in both rounds. This leaves Poole in second place, only half a game point below the leaders, and 3 match points ahead of the chasing pack.
