23 May: Dramatic evening in B&D; Poole E stay up in B&D 4; relegated Poole C win & rue what might have been; Ringwood B haunted by promotion fear

Bournemouth & District Chess League
In their B&D 3 match tonight (Fri 24 May) Southbourne C will be promoted if they at least draw with Bournemouth B. Given his reflections on LMS after Ringwood B's draw at Poole D, it seems likely captain Malcolm Day will be up late glued to LMS!

24 May: 3 B&D matches last night, all at RBL Poole, each with a story. Poole E captain Christine Roberts was delighted her team beat Purbeck 2.5-1.5 to ensure B&D 4 safety. Poole C’s 3-1 win against Wimborne C was unfortunately not sufficient to keep them in B&D 2 – leaving captain Tarik to reflect on a season that might have been. And in his report on LMS, Ringwood B Captain Malcolm Day is apparently haunted by the fear of promotion for his B&D 3 table topping team after a 2-2 draw away to Poole D. In an unusual post on LMS, Malcolm has wished Southbourne C success in their crucial match B&D 3 tonight against Bournemouth B!

On the previous evening (Weds) New Milton A secured runners-up place in B&D 2 after drawing 2-2 away to Wimborne C. This New Milton A side were early leaders in B&D 2 with a strong side and looked favourites to secure promotion. But the 2 mid-season losses to promoted Ringwood A dashed their hopes.

The Player Allocation file, under “B&DCL League” and then “B&DCL Season 2018/19” and up to date for matches to 23 May ’19 has been updated and uploaded early. But it will be updated again after tonight’s promotion deciding B&D 3 match Southbourne C v Bournemouth B.
