Ringwood A promoted to B&D 1 after win v Bournemouth A; B&D 3 remains highly competitive going into last round

Bournemouth & District Chess League
Amazingly, and to the credit of all the teams involved, only 2 league points separate 5 teams after 9 games in B&D 3

14 May: A narrow 2.5-1.5 win last night in B&D 2 secured promotion for Ringwood A, after they had to default board 4 close to the match taking place due to illness. Congratulations to Ringwood on their return to the top flight.

Meanwhile, in B&D 3 Highcliffe B just missed out on returning to pole position going down 1.5-2.5 to Ringwood B. But as Richard Ursell points out on LMS, a positive is that it may avoid the potential restrictions which arise when 2 teams from the same club are in the same division (in this case B&D 2 and Highcliffe A). The result gives the Ringwood team a chance of promotion themselves, but it was also a good result for Southbourne C who have a better game points going into the final round.

In B&D 4, Andrew Manson reports on LMS a very close and competitive match with champions elect New Milton B edging home 2.5-1.5 against Highcliffe C. The strong New Milton team out graded their opponents 485-395.
