Founded in 1880, the club celebrates 140 years season 2019/20. The club is proud to have Mr Emmanuel Lasker, World Chess Champion, and the Grandmaster Mr C. Mansfield as early members

Meets: Tuesday 7pm to 11pm and Thursday from 2pm to 5pm. Because of the arrangements with the Conservative Club, members also have the freedom to play at any other times they may wish.
Aims and objectives: To encourage, foster and teach the playing of Chess under the aegis of The English Chess Federation. To participate in tournaments and matches, including those of the Bournemouth & District Chess League.
Activities offered: We are the only chess club in the area surrounding New Milton including Ashley, Barton-on-Sea, Bashley, Lymington and Milford-on-Sea – and welcome experienced players and beginners alike.
Meeting place facilities and membership: Our premises, as part of New Milton Conservative Club, are recognised as the most comfortable for many a mile. Members are entitled, as of right, to all the benefits of the Club’s activities and facilities (see http://www.newmiltonconclub.co.uk)
Fees: Membership fees are modest; details on request.

Special Note: Home matches in the Dorset League (Div 1) are played at Greyfriars, Ringwood. All other matches are at the Old White Hart as above.
Aims and objectives: To promote chess playing within Ringwood and its environs.
Services and activities offered: The club offers members an opportunity to play friendly chess games and if they wish, to compete in teams entered in both the Bournemouth and Southampton leagues.
Restrictions: There are no age restrictions, although as we play in a room over a licensed premises, under 18’s may not have access to bar areas.
Parking: There is on street parking in the Market Place although it’s only a five minute walk from the main Furlong Car Park.
