Dorset Junior Chess Challenge 2017

2017 Junior Team Chess Challenge (previously the Mayors trophy event)

The first round of matches took place yesterday at the Library with 5 teams participating including a Library team for the first time. There were 20 juniors that competed from Baden- Powell, Bethany, Library/Ferndown Middle School and Talbot House.

There were 3 rounds of 9 with two following dates set for the 8/3 and 27/3.

The games were of a high standard especially on the top boards, all enjoyed the matches and move on to the second round.

The senior event takes place on the 1st March at Bournemouth Grammar School with Highcliffe/Poole and Lytchett Matravers all competing. The final has been arranged for the 26th April and all are welcome.

The 2017 competition is in place and all are ready to go to battle to win the trophy. This is the prime team event for Junior chess in the area and has been supported by the Bournemouth Council and now the Bournemouth & District Chess League. Mr Alan Dommett, Honorary President  has been invited to present the prizes at the Final.

ALL VISITORS ARE WELCOME AT THE LIBRARY AND THE FINAL AND IT WOULD BE REALLY GOOD TO SEE SUPPORT AND PRESENCE FROM LOCAL CHESS PLAYERS
