16 May. It was a night to remember for Poole Chess Club! Not only did their A team win Div 1, but by Wimborne D dropping a point at home to Highcliffe B it meant Poole C cannot be caught at the top, so they become Div 3 Champions. So very well done to Poole C on a superb and consistent season. In the match Wimborne D v Highcliffe B, all 4 games were drawn. Well done to Highcliffe B for being so competitive.

Also at Merley last night in Div 4, Poole D beat Wimborne F 3-1 to go into 1st place and lead the division with just 1 match to go. The actual score  was important as it gives them an 0.5 games point advantage over close rivals Wimborne E, whom they play in the final match 24 May. Tonight (17 May) Poole E take on Southbourne D, also in Div 4. Southbourne D need a maximum win to have an outside change of sharing top spot. Just like the other divisions, Div 4 is going down to the final matches, and possibly the final games, to finish an astonishing season! It could not be more tense or exciting!
