2024 DCCA AGM Summary and Photos

The 2024 DCCA AGM took place at Merley Community Centre on Thursday 27th June.  The key points arising were as follows:

League Rule Changes

Rule 3: The current limit of 75 points for players playing out of rating order will be increased to 100 points.

League Divisions

Consideration will be given to introducing a 4th Division with a lower rating limit.  This will be dependent upon the level of interest shown by clubs before the start of the season.

Presentation of Trophies

The Division 1 trophy was won jointly by Poole A and Weymouth A and was presented to Tarik Reghif and Allan Pleasants

The Division 2 trophy was won by Wimborne B and was presented to Graham Hillman

The Division 3 trophy was won by Poole C and was presented to Ellis Fretwell and Harshal Kulkarni

Tournaments

The five 2023-24 tournaments (Blitz, Closed, Junior, Rapidplay and Centenary/Open) had been successful.  It is currently intended to run them again in 2024-25 with, subject to further planning, the Open being run as the 5th Bournemouth Grand tournament.

Election of New Officers and Presentations to Retiring Officers

The following new officers were elected:
  • President: Malcolm Steevens
  • Secretary: Nikki Forster
  • League Controller: Richard Ursell
  • Webmaster: Harshal Kulkarni
Other officer positions are unchanged.
 
Ian Clark’s retirement as President marks a significant change for the DCCA as he has 28 years combined service as President and Treasurer.  We would all like to thank Ian for his great work over the years.
To mark his exceptional contribution, Ian was presented with a special plaque and a bottle of champagne by incoming president, Malcolm Steevens.
Peter Anderson was presented with a bottle of wine for his work as webmaster over the past 4 years.
