The club also meets on Thursday from 2pm to 5pm. Because of the arrangements with the Conservative Club, members also have the freedom to play at any other times they may wish.

Aims and objectives: To encourage, foster and teach the playing of Chess under the aegis of The English Chess Federation. To participate in tournaments and matches, including those of the Bournemouth & District Chess League.
Activities offered: We are the only chess club in the area surrounding New Milton including Ashley, Barton-on-Sea, Bashley, Lymington and Milford-on-Sea – and welcome experienced players and beginners alike.

Merley Community Centre is approached via a drive just after Merley First School and playing field, but the driveway is clearly marked. There is parking for about 30 cars.
