If you wish to polish up your game, spend time discussing opening gambits, or are a complete beginner, we are the club for you.

Dorchester Chess Club welcomes players of all standards. We meet regularly on Thursday evenings from September to May to play informally or in club conditions. There is also an opportunity to play inter club matches as we participate in the Dorset League controlled by the Dorset County Chess Association.

The club also meets on Thursday from 2pm to 5pm. Because of the arrangements with the Conservative Club, members also have the freedom to play at any other times they may wish.

Aims and objectives: To encourage, foster and teach the playing of Chess under the aegis of The English Chess Federation. To participate in tournaments and matches, including those of the Bournemouth & District Chess League.
Activities offered: We are the only chess club in the area surrounding New Milton including Ashley, Barton-on-Sea, Bashley, Lymington and Milford-on-Sea – and welcome experienced players and beginners alike.
Meeting place facilities and membership: Our premises, as part of New Milton Conservative Club, are recognised as the most comfortable for many a mile. Members are entitled, as of right, to all the benefits of the Club’s activities and facilities (see http://www.newmiltonconclub.co.uk)
Fees: Membership fees are modest; details on request.

The club also meets on a more relaxed basis on Tuesdays at the Ludo Lounge, Southbourne Grove between 2:30pm and 5pm.
