The Dorset Closed has eligiblity requirements but the other 3 are open tournaments.

In 2020 due to COVID-19 only the Dorset Rapidplay was held

In 2021 due to COVID-19 no face-to-face tournaments were held but the 1st Online Dorset Rapidplay was held

In 2022:

  • the 2nd Online Dorset Rapidplay was held in March
  • the 26th Dorset Rapidplay Championship was held in May
  • the 3rd One Day Dorset Closed will be held on Sunday 19th June
  • the 4th Dorset Blitz Championship will be held on Sunday 25h September; details to follow
  • the Dorset Open will not be held due to continuing challenges over finding a suitable venue following COVID-19

Junior Tournaments

In addition we hold junior chess congresses. These are covered and reported under “Junior Chess” on the main menu.

The Future?

Martin Simons is exploring running another Dorset Grand, possibly in 2020 in Bournemouth.   This used to be a summer open tournament but the holding of it was interrupted when Martin Simons and Ian Clark brought the highly successful British Championship to Bournemouth in 2016.
