Division 3 Bishops – Wessex A – Round 7 – March 21st 2026
Wessex A came up against a strong “Rookies” team who out graded us on 5 of the boards. We got off to a flying start with a quick win by David Pye against their highest graded player. That was to be our only win however, and draws from Jaimie & Allan still saw us lose 4-2 overall.

Division 3 Bishops – Wessex A – Round 8 – March 22nd 2026
Sunday saw Wessex A take on another useful team, Guildford Young Guns 2 => any team with “young” in the title always makes me feel apprehensive!
This time however, and unusually, experience told, and we won 4-2 with wins from Jaimie (who beat a 2271), Bill and some guy called Keith, who stepped in at lastminute.com when Roger Marsh was taken ill, plus draws from Allan & Martin. A special thank you to Martin who stepped in at short notice after Bill Adaway had to pull out. Martin even “transferred” from Poole Patzers, with agreement from a very sporting John Weatherlake, the PP Captain,to do this.
With 9 points from 16 we remain mid-table in 6th place, safe from relegation and can enjoy our final weekend in May 😊.

Division 4 – Wessex B – Round 7 – March 21st 2026
Wessex B came up against one of the many “Junior teams” in SPTW Lionesses C.
A somewhat flattering 6-0 scoreline belied the fact that they all looked like they “knew what they were doing” and will doubtless be battering us at some future date.
I have avoided checking their DOBs as I’m nervous their combined age will be less than my age !

Division 4 – Wessex B – Round 8 – March 22nd 2026
Wessex B now came across War & Piece C and again won very comfortably to wrap up a spectacularly successful weekend.

With 7 points from 8 rounds we are now in 17th place of 29 (up from 26th) and will presumably run into tougher opposition in our next & final weekend.
Keith Gregory – 4NCL Wessex Captain – April 7th 2026
