2022 Dorchester Jamboree – Poole win a tight contest ahead of Highcliffe

The traditional Dorchester Jamboree took place at the Colliton Club, Dorchester on Thursday 22nd September and proved very enjoyable. 6 teams took part and it was a good battle between Poole and Highcliffe for the top spot with Poole just edging it.

Mark Potter (Dorchester), the organiser reports …

‘Very much fighting chess with only one game drawn and Bruce’s game was almost the last to finish with a battle to a standstill. The endgame resulted with Bruce having a N+P for R with a few other pawns knocking about.

Poole performed fantastically well having lost one of its top players, Mike Duggan, due to illness, on the morning of the event.

The key game between Highcliffe and Poole saw Zander Booth defeat Richard Ursell. I don’t know how old Zander is but he’s way, way too young to be beating somebody of Richard’s experience.’

Team Results

  • 1st Poole – 5pts
  • 2nd Highcliffe – 4½pts
  • 3rd Weymouth – 2½pts
