2024 B&DCL Summer Chess League – Highcliffe Wins

Main Objective

The B&DCL Summer League’s main purpose is to provide an opportunity to play relaxing, social chess in a friendly outdoor setting at some great venues.

Teams Participating

There are 2 extra teams this year!

Last year’s teams Highcliffe, Ringwood, Southbourne, Wimborne are being joined by Bournemouth & Poole in this season’s Summer Chess League where there are no rules, only guidelines.

Format

Each team is to play each other once and all matches are currently scheduled to be held every week, across a one month period, starting on Monday 17th June. There will be no restriction on the number of players in each team – this is for match captains to agree in advance. To help with attracting good numbers, guest players from other clubs are permitted to take part and players can also play for more than one team as it is the playing rather than winning that counts.

All games will be unrated to embrace the friendly spirit and it is hoped as many of the matches can be played outdoors, weather permitting.

The time control will be either 1 hour for all moves or 45 minutes plus 15 second increments to be agreed by the match captains.

Spectators are welcome but please check on LMS for the latest fixtures.

Fixtures – Matches Commence on 17th June

All clubs are scheduled to play 3 matches at home and 2 away except the Bournemouth chess club which has kindly agreed to play all of its matches away …
