Entry to this event is now closed. 

The good level of entries has allowed for the prize fund to be increased.
There will now be six £20 rating prizes. First prize been increased to £60 and second prize has been increased to £40

The 26th Dorset Rapidplay Chess Championship will be held on Sunday 8th May from 11.30am to 4.30pm.

There are a few changes relative to the past few years:

• It will be held at Merley Community Centre rather than Greyfriars

• Accordingly the number of entrants will be limited, especially as it is being held alongside the Dorset Junior Chess Festival and we want a quiet separate room with good playing conditions

• Entries are restricted to those aged 18 years or over.

• The time limit is a little faster at 15 minutes plus 5 seconds increment.

But much remains the same:

• There will be 6 rounds

• Whilst there won’t be a full lunch there will be free drinks and biscuits and snacks will be available at low cost

• There will be guaranteed prizes, including rating and veterans prizes

• The Championship Cup will be awarded

• It will be a fun event!
