Dorset Juniors In Action in Round 1 of 4NCL Junior Online Season 8

4ncl competition

Off To A Winning Start!

Well done to Dorset Juniors on an excellent performance this week in the first round of Season 8 of the Online Junior 4NCL competition.

Unfortunately, Dorset Juniors 2 didn’t get to play as they had a bye.  However, they will definitely be in action in two weeks time on Thursday 21st September!

Dorset Juniors 1, playing in Division 3 following promotion last season, got off to a strong start beating Chess Challengers A 6½ – 1½.   Some great chess was played by  Zander Booth, Hugo Melling, Ellis Fretwell and Michal Orszulak against strong opponents.

The results from other teams in the same division can be found here.

This result puts our 1st Team in second place in Group A, although of course it is early days with many more rounds to come. But a fantastic start!

Division 3 Format

Division 3 (and Division 1 and 2) runs with two groups of 8 teams with all teams playing each other within a group, followed by a semi-final and then a final stage as follows:

Semi Finals
Match 1 Winner Pool A v Runner Up Pool B
Match 2 Winner Pool B v Runner Up Pool A
The losers of the Semi Finals will have an end of season placing of 3 or 4 in their division after a tie-break is applied.

Final
Match 3 Winner Match 1 v Winner Match 2
The loser of the Final will have an end of season placing of 2. The winner of the Final will have an end of season placing of 1, and be the division champion.

Full details can be found here.

Division 4 Format

Division 4 operates one large Swiss pairing pool of over 20 teams.

Our bye in Round 1 leaves our 2nd Team in the middle of the Division 4 table.
