Facing a strong passed pawn, White needs to be ingenious to salvage the draw.
Many thanks to Jon Freeman (Weymouth CC) for pointing out that I had missed the best defence for Black and therefore the mainline in last Thursday’s puzzle. It was not so simple as I had thought! The solution has been updated and is well worth a revisit if, like me, you missed the key line.
