Victorious Bournemouth team!
58 players played in the traditional annual friendly Bournemouth v Poole Two Towns match, which was held at the BH15 Club last Monday, 7th September 2026.
This was the highest turnout since 2019, when 58 players also took part.
Once again, there was some negotiation (and maybe some pints being exchanged) before the match as players were switched between teams to even up the numbers.
The match was played in a good spirit and nearly each individual game was played over 2 games with each player having 25 minutes plus 10 second increments. Players could either win 2 – 0, 1½ – ½ or there could be a 1 – 1 draw.
Poole took an early lead but Bournemouth’s higher ratings on the middle to lower boards eventually gave them a narrow victory by 31 – 27.
