Dorset now has a National Chess Champion!
Report and game analysis by Martin Simons
Over Easter 2017, Allan Pleasants participated in and deservedly won the Welsh Chess Championships in Cardiff for his first time with an outstanding score of 6 out of 7, remaining unbeaten throughout the Championships. This is a great performance and a fantastic achievement by Allan which has also earned him a qualifying place at the British Chess Championships this summer to be played in North Wales at the seaside town of Llandudno.
Here is Allan’s last round win. He only needed a draw but Allan completely outplayed his opponent, Alan Young, finishing the game off in fine sacrificial style!
