International Chess Day is celebrated annually on 20th July, the day the International Chess Federation (FIDE) was founded, in 1924. International Chess Day came from an idea that the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) had.
Chess lovers around the world celebrate their favourite game on this day each year, in a tradition spanning more than 50 years.
Calling all Dorset Junior Chess players to tell us how you celebrated
At Dorset Junior Chess, we thought it would be great if the Dorset Junior Chess players could do something chess related either at school or at home on Tuesday 20th July and send details of what they did by email (to [email protected]). We would love to publish your stories on the Dorset Chess Junior page of the Dorset Chess website.
