Dorset Juniors perform well in Dorset Online Rapidplay

Five junior chess players took part in the 2nd Online Dorset Rapidplay Chess Championship on Sunday 6th March and together they achieved a combined score of 18 points across the seven rounds, more than a 50% success rate.

Not only that but the Bright Bishops, the combined team of Jamie Doyle, Florence Spirling, Finn Schell and Zander Booth  won the team prize. Well done!

After nearly 4 and a half hours of exciting rapidplay chess and some excellent games, the results saw Zander (13th), Jamie (15th) and Leo Camopy (16th) on 4 points, each winning a junior prize, closely followed by Florence (19th) and Finn (24th) on 3 points.

There were good performances all-round with Zander and Jamie playing close to their rating whilst Leo, Florence, and Finn each played above their ratings. Florence had an excellent win against Richard Allis rated 2248, whilst Zander achieved a draw against Adam Ursell rated 2217. In fact, all of Florence’s opponents were rated above 2000.

You can read the full tournament report and results, covering the oldies as well as the juniors, here.

Congratulations to all of you and we look forward to seeing you all play again very soon.
