Free Training and Tournament for Girls with International Master

1st Bournemouth Jun Chess

Many thanks to Adrian Cuthbert (aka Larissa Cuthbert’s dad) for bringing this opportunity for girls to our attention through his contact with Lorin D’Costa.

International Master Lorin D’Costa is providing free weekly training to girls via Zoom followed by a girls’ tournament.

More information on Lorin can be found at http://www.lorinchess.com    There are also a number of useful links for junior chess players on Lorin’s website.

Encouraging girls to play chess, Lorin says:

For the past 8 Saturdays I have set up a weekly girls event and training entitled ‘She Plays To Win’, with free training on Zoom and then Lichess arena tournament afterwards. I had 57 girls attend 2 weeks ago, so I am slowly building this up from scratch. It is part of my bigger ambition to really get girls chess off the ground in the UK.

Normally I do 3-3.30pm training via zoom and 90 min Lichess arena tournament at 3.35pm.

Finally, if you could recommend this to the other girls you know would be interested so we can spread this to create a huge following, I would be grateful.

NB anyone interested will need to email Lorin to get onto his email list and in the email let him know their daughter’s Lichess username so that he can authorise them to take part.

Interested girls will also need a Lichess account set up.   https://lichess.org/signup
