Hants/Dorset/Wilts Team Competing in West of England Champs

Chess League advice and information

As reported in Martin’s newsletter No.62, Dorset and Wilts did not manage to raise a combined team to play in the West of England Counties Online Championship.  At that time it was being suggested that some Dorset players might be eligible to play for Hampshire, e.g. by virtue of being born in Hampshire.   Somewhere along the line, and unbeknownst to many of us, a combined Hants/Dorset/Wilts team emerged!  The combined team is being captained by Ashraf Syed of Hampshire and is up against individual county teams from Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire and Somerset.

The first round was on Sunday 16th January and Hants/Dorset/Wilts faced Gloucestershire, with a couple of good results for Dorset players, but overall a heavy loss for the team.  More details are on the West of England website.
