The winners of the 2021-22 B&DCL, Highcliffe, and the winners of the 2021-22 Dorset Chess League, Weymouth, agreed to play a “Supercup” match, a sort of local chess equivalent of the Charity Shield.

Originally it was planned to be held in 2022 but after a few delays it was eventually played at the neutral venue of Wimborne on Wednesday 31st May, 2023!

By design the teams were fairly evenly matched but Highcliffe came away 3.5 – 0.5 winners, with victories from Bruce Jenks, Madison Bowers and Ken Smith. You can see the full match card and Richard Ursell’s report here on LMS.
