Well done Dorset Juniors on some great results this evening. As is often the case at the beginning of a new season, there was a bit of chaos and confusion across all the divisions but everyone soon settled into their games and enjoyed themselves.
Dorset Juniors 1: drew 3.5 – 3.5
Unfortunately Hugo was unable to play at the last minute due to illness, which meant that DJ1 were deducted a point for the two defaults and the opponents gained both the points on board 3.
Ignoring this, there were strong performances from all our team, with double wins for Anuhas, 1.5 points for Zander, with a draw by threefold repetition, and two draws by agreement for Michal.
Not surprisingly, the result puts DJ1 mid-table but with 6 rounds to go, it doesn’t really mean much at this stage.
Dorset Juniors 2: won 5.5 – 2.5
A great win for Dorset Juniors 2 in Division 3. On paper, DJ2 were also higher rated than their opponents but ratings can be deceiving and the ratings shown are not necessarily the same as the online ratings. In the board 3 and board 4 matches, both Akshay and Anish’s opponents had online ratings of over 1200.
There were two comprehensive wins forSam, a win and a draw, due to insufficient material, forArthur, and one win each for new young playersAkshayandAnish, playing in their very first junior online 4NCL. Well done!
The result puts the team in the top 10 (9th) out of 29 teams, which is a great start.
Next round: Thursday 3rd October
