Lots of enquiries asking “what congresses are coming up?”

ECF Matters - Dorset Chess

20 Feb: Just recently, there has been a surge of interest in regional weekend chess congresses, especially from parents, following the success of the Dorset Junior Championships last Saturday.

Coming up in Dorset there is the Closed Congress at Merley on 24 May ’20. Ian Clark runs this and will be publishing information on the website in due course. And Ian is also organiser of the weekend Dorset Open which takes place at Bournemouth in October and typically has 100 entrants. Before that, in September, there is the 1 day Dorset Blitz, at Furzebrook near Wareham. Steve Peirson, the Organiser will announce a date for the Blitz in due course.

The 1 day 25th Dorset Rapidplay is being run next month on 15 March at Ringwood. Interest in the event far exceeded what we expected and all places were taken by early this month. Many apologies to all those who would still like to have entered, but we are keeping a reserve list in case places become available.

Meanwhile the best place to see what events are coming up regionally and nationally is the ECF Calendar of events and by clicking on this link below:
