Great set of results to round off season 8 in Junior Online 4NCL – looks like promotion for Dorset Juniors 2

4ncl competition

Brilliant results in the final round, Round 7, of Season 8 in the Junior Online 4NCL. Well done everyone, I am so proud of you all.

Dorset Juniors 2

Starting with Dorset Juniors 2, there were excellent double wins for Michal, Ollie and Arthur, all against higher rated opponents. Michal’s games were quite quick, and thereafter he was excitedly watching and messaging the scores, fully believing – quite rightly – that the team would be promoted!

Many thanks to Harry for coming onto the team for this match, you fought really hard. I hope you will play for the team in Season 9, starting in January.

The 6 – 2 win puts them into third place in Division 4 and almost certain promotion to Division 3 next season (we have to await the arbiters doing their final checks before it’s actually confirmed).

Dorset Juniors 1

It was also a convincing win for Dorset Juniors 1, who will now progress to the semi-finals in two weeks time on 14th December.

There were great double wins for Jason, Hugo and Jack (playing in Dorset Juniors 1 replacing Sam). All of these were tough matches with no easy wins, so very well played. Unfortunately, Zander came up against a very highly rated player on Board 1 and although the final scores went against him, both of his matches were fascinating to follow and went down to the very last few seconds. Thank goodness for 5 second increments!

The result reaffirms the team’s position as 2nd in Group A. A fantastic result.

Semi-finals

Although pairings have yet to be published for the semi-final, Dorset Juniors 1 will be playing Rogue Rooks, who have been the runaway winners of Group B.  But we have every chance of pulling off a surprise result, so let’s go for it!!!!!
