Shreyas Royal becomes UK’s youngest chess Grandmaster

Shreyas Royal is to be congratulated for becoming the youngest British player at the age of 15, to achieve the GM title following his 6 points out of 9 in the Championship section.

As a result of his success, he appeared on the BBC Breakfast show this week on Wednesday 7th August. Please also follow this link – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crkmm0jr5gno for an article by Tony Grew ‘Woolwich teen is UK’s youngest chess grandmaster‘.

However, he had a bit of luck in round 3 when being outplayed by the GM Mark Hebden.

In the following position, it is Hebden (Black) to make his 30th move. He is a pawn up with his major pieces in good
attacking positions but he has only one move to maintain winning chances.

Can you find it?
