Southbourne Christmas Handicap was a huge success – here are the results!

Christmas Southbourne Rapidplay

Chess Christmas (2)

Message from Father Christmas (rumoured to be Martin Simons):

Please find the attached results from last night’s tournament (Fri 20 Dec at Tuckton) which was played in very good spirit and to the accompaniment of Christmas music.

There was an excellent turnout of 30 players who enjoyed the Bucks Fizz and mince pies (not too sure who ate the most!)

Well done to the joint winners, James Forster and Mike Waddington who came joint 1st with 5.5 out of 7.

There were outstanding performance from the juniors – Larissa Cuthbert who came joint 3rd, Jamie Doyle who came joint 7th, Florence Spirling who came joint 10th and Jack Doyle who came 24th.

Mention also to the 3 lady players, Janet Lucas, Chris Roberts and Wendy Cuthbert who all performed well.

However, everyone appeared to have lots of fun and they were all winners as they won at least one Christmas present!

We look forward to seeing as many of you next year.

Best wishes

Father Christmas – Ho, ho, ho!

Chess ChristmasAs a footnote, there was an excellent performance from Dan Ursell who came joint 10th despite having a grade of only 42.

Also and very interestingly, the 3 player Ursell family beat the 3 player Cuthbert family by 13.5 – 9 but the Ursells did outgrade the Cuthberts by some 150 points!

Best wishes

Martin
