DCCA AGM 2025 – Summary and Awards

The Dorset County Chess Association AGM was held on Tuesday 1st July 2025, at the Merley Community Centre.
Key points:
  • The new constitution was approved.
  • A new Webmaster William Adaway (Bill), was appointed, with support being available from Martin O’Neill.
  • There was the presentation of trophies.
  • It is hoped there will be a role in social media in addition to increased Dorset Chess website activity.
  • Plans were discussed for the upcoming Dorset tournaments and the Dorset Chess League.
  • There could be a possible inter-county tournament for juniors.
  • It was recommended that each club has a junior representative.
  • It was recommended that clubs undertake their own risk assessment regarding safeguarding and insurance as the DCCA safeguarding / insurance doesn’t cover the clubs.

Dorset Closed – Major – Mark Potter and Thorsten Meyer (not in photo)

Dorset Closed – Minor – Tony Sanderson  (John Weatherlake collected on his behalf)

 

The following Trophies were not presented at the AGM and hence no photos were taken.

  1. Dorset Blitz Champion – Finn Schell – He was presented with the Trophy at the Dorset Blitz
  2. Dorset Rapidplay – Best Veteran – He already has the Trophy
