Dorset Juniors Success in UK Chess Challenge Megafinals

Several Dorset juniors recently took part in the Delancey UK Chess Challenge Megafinals, either the online Megafinals (18/19 June and 2/3 July) or over the board at the Hampshire Megafinal where over 160 juniors from across the region took part.

Congratulations to Max Teverson (U10), Finn Schell (U14), Harry Mercer (U12) and Matthew Butcher (U12) who gained entry to the next round.

In the online Megafinals, Max scored 5 points out of 6, coming 10th in his section, whilst Finn scored 3.5 out of 6 achieving the qualification target.

In the over the board Hampshire Megafinal, Harry qualified with a score of 4 out of 6, coming 8th in his section whilst Matthew scored 3.5.

All four can now progress onto the Gigafinal stage, either across the board in July or online in September.

There were also good performances by the rookie Dorset juniors, Smyan Srivigneswararajah, Joshua Richards, Sebastian Robinson and Jiya Girish playing in their first Megafinal. Both Smyan and Joshua scored 3 points out of 6, narrowly missing the qualification target.

Well done all of you!
