Nikki Forster, B&DCL & DCCA Junior Chess Coordinator appointed Sept '19

Appointment of New B&DCL & DCCA Junior Chess Coordinator

On behalf of the Bournemouth & District Chess League and Dorset County Chess Association, we are very pleased to formally announce the appointment of Nikki Forster as the B&DCL and DCCA Junior Chess Coordinator.

Nikki comes with a wealth of experience having worked with and supported juniors of all ages for many years in South Africa and seeing her son, James, develop and rise through the junior chess ranks, both in South Africa and in England.

Following the B&DCL and DCCA AGMs in June, Nikki has worked extremely hard and diligently to explore the opportunities available for expanding junior chess in the local area, and, in keeping with the ethos and structure of both local non-profit organisations, she is very keen to offer as much free and fun chess to juniors as possible as we enter a new Junior Chess era. She also shares our vision that our juniors should be fully encouraged & supported, with the help of voluntary helpers, including the opportunity to play in all local and ECF competitions, and that there should be a natural connection with all our adult chess clubs in the local area so that their talent is spread equally across all our clubs, after all, it is important to remember that our juniors will be our future lifeblood. Nikki therefore plans to contact all clubs to see how her junior chess work can help them and how they can support her.

Nikki’s work has already involved directly contacting then speaking with many of the top ECF junior chess officials and junior chess organisers around other counties in England and these have resulted in many fruitful discussions and possible exciting opportunities.

If you would like to find out more about local Junior chess activities and initiatives then please contact Nikki on [email protected].

So, well done Nikki, welcome on board! We really appreciate all your hard work to date, your exciting new ideas which should benefit everyone, and we look forward to working with you!
