The Liberal Club in Winton is an excellent venue for chess

31 Aug: Martin Simons (main picture) will be the guest top Dorset player at the Winton Liberal Club (521 Wimborne Road, Winton BH9 2AW) when he takes on all-comers running a simultaneous. 7.30pm for 8pm. There will be an excellent buffet for just £5 a head.

Bournemouth moved to this impressive playing location, close to the centre of Bournemouth last month from Kinson and have already seen an increase in membership. Club Chair Paul Errington explains this event is not just for existing members, but “any chess playing visitors are very welcome to join us”. To help with planning the buffet, he just asks you let him know you will be taking part – Paul’s landline is 01202 527736 & mobile 07769 829891. Alternatively you can ring Roy Egginton 07711 299751, or email Roy at [email protected] (Paul explains after 28 August please only contact Roy).

The ambitious Bournemouth club is entering 3 teams in the Bournemouth & District Leagues this season, and possibly a team in the Bacchus League which is for less experienced and emerging players. If you are considering joining, why not come along on 3rd Sept? The evening will be great fun and you are assured a very warm welcome.
