This is the official website for the Dorset County Chess Association (DCCA) and the Bournemouth and District Chess League (B&DCL). It covers not only events run by those organisations but also provides information on other chess activities in Dorset.
About Dorset Chess
Welcome
Junior Chess
We recognise the importance of juniors to the future of chess and actively seek to encourage and develop young chess players. We organise junior tournaments including the Dorset Junior Chess Championships, inter-school competitions, and regular junior learning groups. To oversee this we have a dedicated Junior Chess Coordinator. More information is available in our Junior Chess section.

Clubs and leagues
Within Dorset there are 11 friendly clubs that participate in three leagues and a knockout cup:
- Dorset League
- Bournemouth and District Chess League
- Bacchus League, a gentle league for for new or inexperienced players.
- Team Handicap Knockout Cup

Congresses
We run four regular congresses for players of all ages, covering everything from classical time limits to blitz.

Relaxed Chess
If you are interested in playing friendly games in a relaxed environment, there are a number opportunities in the region to play casual games in cafes, pubs and social clubs.
