3 Sections each with 4 Rounds

Dorset Individual Championship

Dorset Major (Under 1850)

Dorset Minor (Under 1500)

Maximum of 12 players in each section

Entry Fee for players in all sections is £15
(Plus a £3 late fee if received after 12th June 2022)

Prizes (subject to entries) for all sections: 1st £50, 2nd £30, Grading £20

In the event of ties, all trophies and cash prizes will be shared.

Rates of Play

All moves in 45 minutes plus 15 seconds increment per move

Schedule

Round 1 –   9.15am

Round 2 – 11.30am

Round 3 –   2.15pm

Round 4 –   4.30pm

Prizegiving 6.45pm approx.

Although each round should last no more than 2 hours 20 minutes, by using time increments means there is no definitive end time. Please therefore note there will be a minimum of a 10 minute break following the completion of the previous round so start times may vary slightly but these will not be any earlier than those stated above.

Food and Drink

Tea and coffee and bar drinks will be available. 

No hotel bar food is available so players will need to bring their own food.

Conditions of Entry

1. To be eligible to play, one of the following must apply:
a) Born In Dorset
b) Has lived in Dorset for over 5 years
c) Plays regularly in either the B&DCL or Dorset County Chess League.

2. In any dispute the controller’s decision is final.

3. The right is reserved to assign players to specific tournaments.

4. If 2 or more players tie then trophies will be shared.

5. Only rated players are eligible to play (but see below). The June 2022 “live” ratings will be used.

7. All 4 tournaments are subject to FIDE rules.

8. Electronic means of communication must be totally switched off in the playing area – failure to comply will result in a warning then a loss of game.
