The 1st Chess4U Weymouth Congress was held on 14th to 15th October which attracted 79 entrants.

22 Dorset players took part.

Notable local achievements included:

• Allan Pleasants (Weymouth) coming equal 2nd in the Major with 3½ points out of 5.

• Mark Potter (Dorchester) coming 2nd with 4 points out of 5 & James Schumacher (Bournemouth) coming equal 3rd in the Intermediate with 3½ points.
