1st Bournemouth Junior Chess Congress – Sat 11 June ’16
Encouraging entry of 36 for this inaugural congress held at Harewood School, run by Eric Sachs, Ian Clark & team. Prizes included 8 places in the British Junior Championships, part of the British Chess Championships being held at Bournemouth, 23 July to 6 August. Keith Gregory triumphs in Dorset Rapidplay – 13 March ’16
Keith Gregory (Fareham) was in fine form at Ringwood, winning the 21st Dorset Rapidplay with 5.5/6. The Rapidplay trophy will be held by the runners-up, Osca Garcia (Poole) and Kevin Goater (Dorchester). Graham Willetts (Wimborne) & Kenny Harman (Ringwood) share the Veterans Cup. There were 26 prize winners and 51 entrants
22nd Dorset Closed Congress
The Dorset Closed took place 30 Jan – 1 Feb ’15 in Bournemouth. It was one of the closest Dorset congresses ever, with more than half the players having a chance to win a prize at the start of the 5th and final round.
