Outstanding Individual Performances

Here we look at some of the best individual performances in each division, in terms of number of points scored and best % scores over 5 or more games.  In the B&DCL there are formal awards for the most points scored in each division and we note those on the way through too.

B&DCL Division 1

John Weatherlake (Poole Chess Club)Top points scorer and winner of the Brien Urry Cup is John Weatherlake of Poole with 8/10.

At 80%, John also has the highest % score of anyone in Division 1 who has played 5 games or more.

B&DCL Division 2

Top points scorer and winner of the Div 2 Boardman Trophy is Russell Pegg (pictured) of Southbourne with 7/10.

The highest % score of anyone who played 5 games or more was Bill Adaway of Wimborne for the second year in a row with 4/5 giving 80%.  Grzegorz Sawicki also of Wimborne Poole notched up 6.5/9 for 72% – had Grzegorz played all 10 games he might have walked away with the Boardman Trophy.

B&DCL Division 3

Top scorer and winner of the Boardman Trophy for Division 3 was James Schumacher (pictured) of Bournemouth with 8/10.

Top % scorer amongst these who played 5 games or more was Robert Willington also of Bournemouth with a very impressive 4.5/5 giving 90%.

B&DCL Division 4

The top scorer and winner of the Boardman Trophy for Division 4 was Tony Sanderson (pictured) of Poole with 5.5/7, though he was chased hard by Leo Camopy (also Poole) and David Arorash (Southbourne) who both scored 5/7.

With 79% Tony also had the best % score of anyone who played more than 5 games.

B&DCL Division 5

The top scorer and winner of the Boardman Trophy for Division 5 was Finn Schell (pictured) of Southbourne  with an exceptional 9.5/10.

No surprise that at 95% Finn also had the highest % of anyone who played 5 games or more.

Bacchus League

Taking part rather than winning really is considered the most important thing in the Bacchus League.  Nonetheless, it is natural to recognise good performances.

The top scorer was Jason Wang (pictured) of Southbourne Seagulls with 5/6.

DCL Division 1

The top scorer was James Forster (pictured) of Highcliffe with 6/10.

Grzegorz Sawicki of Wimborne was the top % scorer in this division amongst those who played 5 games or more, with 4.5/5 giving 90%.

DCL Division 2

For the second year in a row Steve Peirson (pictured) of Purbeck was top scorer in this division with 7/10.

Of those who played 5 games or more there were two who scored 4/5 giving 80% making them top % scorers: Stephen Bolton of Bournemouth and David Aldwinckle of Dorchester.

DCL Division 3

Top scorer in this division was Simon Young of Wimborne with an excellent 7/8.

At 88% Simon was also the top % scorer of those who played 5 games or more.
